Sad, Sad, Sad.

For those of us serving the community by sitting on the Board there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that you don't always get to see. That is as it should be. But sometimes there are things that happen that need sharing. Before I share the sad news, here's a little background information, for context.

One of our Directorships has the title Director of Landscaping and Maintenance Committee. This seat is held by our neighbor Bob Cesarek. Bob is married to Wendy and they have a young Son, Jordan. You might have seen them, often, working hard to beautify our entrance or at the clubhouse. Bob and Wendy work very hard for the community, in high temperatures and low, during wind and rain and when pipes burst. They spend a lot of their time and their personal money quietly, tirelessly and uncomplainingly, working to improve the aesthetics of our neighborhood common areas.

Here's what's sad. I had to receive this email, from Bob, because someone has once again STOLEN from us and DESTROYED the beauty Bob and Wendy have worked so hard on.

Bob has given me permission, to publish his email here, verbatim.

From: Bob Cesarek <1landscapedirector@gmail.com> Sent: Saturday, April 15, 2023 5:34:58 PM To: FSHOA Board Members Subject: Plant thief strikes again

I watered all the plants in our planter up front last night and they were looking great.

Upon leaving the subdivision this morning, we noticed that some #$%^&*% good for nothing

thief stole every single plant from our planter and some in the ground. The centerpiece, Apostle Iris, was just getting ready to start producing blooms, it would have been spectacular, the complimentary flowers are gone too.

This is the second time that this has happened and we're devastated.

We spend hours driving to different nurseries to pick out some premium plants. We spend hours planting and cultivating them, weeding them, constantly watering them. Obviously the thief admires our selections even more!

My wife Wendy has told me that she is done, she can no longer put all her effort into what she loves and have some despicable person continue to steal from us. I will finish out this fiscal year, then consider turning this over to a vendor who will charge us hundreds of dollars every quarter.

As the landscape director, I will now buy the run of the mill plants for the planter and front entrance, plant them myself, and hope they won't catch the eye of a good for nothing thief.

I want to thank my wife, Wendy, for her loving help and skills that transformed our entrance

into an experience.

Bob

Landscape Director

If anyone in our community knows anything or saw anything about the theft on Friday night (April 14th) I'd be grateful to hear from you.

In the meantime, I urge you all to be vigilant and please be patient and understanding.

Richard

Is there anyway to put a surveillance camera in that area?

Hi - The thought of installing in cameras did occur. Where I'm at right now is that, it WILL cost and only MIGHT be useful. Why I say only MIGHT be useful is that, after a theft it is unlikely that law enforcement would really do an awful lot, so there's an outside chance of catching the thief(ves). The only other benefit might be in deterrence, but, a dedicated thief would take precautions to hide their identity. I've not yet spoken more broadly with the Board about this, just sharing my initial thoughts. Thank you for your comment and I'll keep everyone updated should something change with regards to this issue.

I also am very saddened by this. I know how hard Bob Wendy and Jordan work to beautify our entrance. I wish we could catch these awful people that are STEALING our property.

It is so disturbing that for the second time, a worthless thief has stolen our plants at our entrance. Thanks to Bob for letting you share his message.

My thanks to Bob, Wendy and Jordon for the devoted planting, and endless caring for the plants you most loving selected for our entrance.

They were indeed lovely and very much appreciated. 🥰
